WeGO Secretary General Dr. Young-sook Nam

In an interview with the Korea Herald, Dr. Young-sook Nam, the newly-appointed Secretary General of WeGO, explains the importance of e-Government in local governments to ensure civic democracy and to pursue sustainable development. According to Dr. Nam, "e-Government not only provides a new source of economic growth with innovative technology, but also strengthens democracy by attracting citizens to participate in policy making and keeping information transparent." She talks about WeGO and its valuable role as the first international city-led organization dedicated to information and communication technologies for public administration and her plans on widening WeGO's part in promoting "Smart Sustainable Cities". In the interview, she shares some of WeGO's activities for the year, including its plan to organize a side event during HABITAT III, the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development.
